General information

This viaduct crosses the Santa Ana river with a total length of 220m . It is located in the High Speed Line Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona-French border, between Barcelona and the French border.
Spans: 35m+45m+60m+45m+35m. It has a constant depth of 3.04 m in almost the total length. The depth is only increased up to 4.74m in piers 2 and 3 in the longest span.

The static scheme is the classical for railway bridges:
– The deck is a concrete continuous box beam, supported on reinforced concrete piers and abutments.
– Longitudinal fixed point, against horizontal actions, is placed on an abutment. The deck is transversally fixed to all piers.

It is noteworthy that the viaduct is located in an area of moderate seismic activity, with basic soil acceleration a = 0.09g, this action has being decisive in the design of many elements of the structure.

The foundations of the piers number 2 and 3 should be deep, with piles of 1500 mm diameter. The foundations of the piers number 1, 4 and abutments can be direct.

The deck is constructed by the span by span method on a portal frame falsework supported on the ground. The concreting of cross section has been done in two sub-phases.
