BT Intervention
Complete structural design of tunnel rings. The concrete segments, in their great majority, are only reinforced by steel fibers. Only a few have a perimetral ring of conventional reinforcement. In addition, BT has advised on the definition of the material (type of fiber and amount) and the characterization tests, as well as the production of the segments.
Description
The Majes-Siguas hydraulic project includes 3 long tunnels: Lluclla-Siguas 12.82 Km long; Pucará 6.33 Km long and Transandino 9.674 Km long. These tunnels have been designed to be constructed by TBM, with a ring outside diameter of 5.47 m and a thickness of 235 mm.
The main characteristic is that almost all the segments have been designed only using steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC). In some special segments, a perimetral reinforcement ring has been provided.
BT has proceeded to develop the complete geometric and structural design of the segments and has advised in the process of selection of the type of fibers and definition of their amount. It has also proceeded to supervise the tests made on the materials and to advise the process of segment production.
